ABOUT ASHLEIGH VAN DAMME/FOUNDER:

I founded Selene Interiors after working for almost two decades in styling, visual merchandising, and small business management, primarily in the fashion and beauty industries. I enrolled as a mature-aged student in 2019 to study formal qualifications in Design and Decoration at Sydney Design School.

I come from a family of business owners involved in the building, insurance, and baking industries. I am proud to be the first female-led business owner in my family. My grandfathers and father were great role models for me. I witnessed their dedication and passion for their businesses, which motivated me to pursue a similar but unique path.

I love all aspects of small business and the continued learning that comes with it. Combining my love for creating bespoke spaces with my passion for running and supporting small businesses has been a privilege. I take the responsibility of transforming client’s homes very seriously and feel honored to be entrusted with such an important task.

When I'm not working, I enjoy savouring coffee, attending local art exhibitions, listening to music, adventuring with my husband in our camper, attempting to be a florist, and exploring Perth's best brunch spots.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT:

When I founded Selene Interiors, one of my main goals was to give back to the community. After conducting thorough research, I came across Worthy Australia, which we have sponsored since 2021. Their Safe Haven program is dedicated to transforming empty houses into fully furnished homes for families who have left domestic violence refuges. We donate $10 for every consultation we have, and we've previously organized a charity art event to raise funds for this fantastic cause. We also facilitate an Artist in Residence Program at the charity's headquarters, providing an excellent opportunity to support the local Perth Art scene while raising money for the charity.

After immersing myself in Greek mythology, I stumbled upon Selene, a goddess with powers that resonated with me. She's the maestro of intuition, your gut feeling. Imagine you’re at a crossroads, feeling uncertain, and voila! Selene ignites that gut feeling, gently leading you toward clarity.
