Begin by placing more oversized items, such as pot plants, large coffee table books, baskets, artwork, and sizable ceramics. These larger pieces can serve as the foundation for your arrangement. It is advisable to avoid focusing on smaller items initially, as keeping them for the end can simplify the process and prevent clutter. Spread the more prominent items strategically, allowing the eye to wander across the shelves naturally rather than fixating on one spot.

Incorporating functionality is vital. If your shelf is in the living room, consider incorporating baskets as both stylish decor elements and practical storage solutions.

Books can play a pivotal role in styling. Stack them in odd numbers, placing larger books at the base and smaller ones at the top. Adding more minor trinkets or decorative items atop the stacks can create beautifully styled clusters.

Considerations:

 Vary sizes and Heights:

Could you mix up the size and height of your decor items for a visually appealing display? Odd numbers work well for creating balance and interest.

Artful Placement:

Lean artwork against the back of shelves for an elegant display, especially helpful in rental spaces where wall hanging might be restricted.

Natural Elements:

Incorporate greenery or florals to infuse a natural touch and introduce a burst of colour into the arrangement.

Embrace Diversity:

Play with various shapes, textures, and elements to add depth and intrigue to your display.

 Personalize your Space:

Use this opportunity to showcase your favourite items, such as travel memorabilia, souvenirs, or books from your beloved destinations, and let your personality shine through your decor.

 Evaluate and Adjust:

Step back and assess your arrangement. Ensure your eye isn't fixated on one area, and make adjustments if anything seems out of place.

Remember, your space should reflect your unique style and preferences. Although you can take inspiration from various sources, infuse your personal touch to make it yours. The key is to create a display that resonates with you and brings joy to your space.
